Crispy Hot Honey Chicken

Updated: Apr 16

Made, written & photographed by the creators of the Point

Lately, I've been craving the hot and sweet combination, so this Crispy Hot Honey Chicken hits the spot!

It's the perfect recipe to adjust according to your spice levels: more hot sauce or less hot sauce - as easy as that.

Serve with some veggies, bread, mashed potatoes, or just with sauce on the side!

Crispy Hot Honey Chicken

Serves 4 | Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 lb of Chicken Breast, thinly sliced and pounded to 1/4 inch thick

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/4 cup of milk

  • 1/4 cup Franks Red Hot Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder, separated

  • 1 tablespoon Italian herbs, separated

  • Pinch of chili powder

  • 2 cups Italian breadcrumbs

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Light olive oil, enough to have half an inch deep in a large frying pan

For the Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons honey

  • 3 tablespoons Franks Red Hot Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon butter

  • Pinch of garlic powder and Italian Herbs

Instructions:

If you haven't already, make sure to pound the chicken until about 1/4 inch thick.

This thickness will ensure the chicken cooks the same time the breading gets crispy!

In a shallow bowl, whisk 2 eggs, 1/4 cup milk, 1/4 cup of hot sauce, 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder, 1/2 tablespoon Italian Herbs, pinch of chili powder, salt and pepper.

In a different shallow bowl, combine 2 cups Italian breadcrumbs, 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder, 1/2 tablespoon Italian herbs, salt and pepper. Set aside.

Taking one piece of chicken at a time, dip each breast into the egg mixture. Let extra eggs drip off, and then lay into the breadcrumbs. Make sure to pat the breading onto each breast to ensure they're coated. Lay on a clean cutting board or cooking sheet and let sit for 10 minutes to allow breading to adhere.

Add a layer of about half an inch deep in a large skillet. Preheat over medium high heat. Once hot, add chicken breast and cook on each side for about 3 or 4 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove cooked chicken to a new, paper towel lined plate or board. Continue until all breasts are cooked.

Make sure to temp each piece to make sure they reach 165F. If you didn't get the chicken super thin, this step will take longer.

Make the sauce. by combining all ingredients in a small sauce pan: 2 tablespoons honey, 3 tablespoons Franks Red Hot Sauce, 1 tablespoon butter, and garlic powder and Italian Herbs.

You can add more or less hot sauce depending on how spicy you'd like it. This is a good starting point, and you can adjust by tasting and adding more honey or hot sauce.

Serve by drizzling the Hot Honey sauce over the crispy chicken!
